Michael Dühr

Michael is a versatile musician and music producer with over 30 years of experience in the music and software industries. He composes, produces, and arranges music across diverse fields, styles, and formats. Since the early 1990s, Michael has been deeply involved in music production, composing, and performing across genres like rock, pop, and electronic music, as well as creating music for games and advertising. As a musician (vocals, bass, guitar) and songwriter, he has contributed to various projects and bands.


With his former band Venus Hype Machine, he earned the Rockförderpreis Trier in 1997, the Rockbuster Winner Rhineland-Palatinate in 1998, and the Rosebud Red – Songs Of Goethe And Nietzsche VW Soundfoundation Newcomer in Weimar in 1999. The band’s album, Console 5001, was published by Universal Music (UMP) in early 2000.


Since then, he has worked with clients including AudioBerlin.com, Flow Snowboards, ZDF, RTL, Becks, Playmobil, Nintendo, Sparkasse S-Broker, Zplane Development, u-he, Universal Music, Mina Harker, Ira Losco (Eurovision Song Contest, ESC), and more. Under the artist name Nevada Kid™, he has been producing techno, electro, minimal, and experimental music since 2002.


In 2007, Michael began working in the music software industry, holding various roles, including Product Specialist, 2nd-Level Technical Supporter, and QA Tester at Ableton AG until 2012. He then served as a QA Engineer at Native Instruments GmbH from 2012 to 2014, followed by a QA Engineer role at Heckmann Audio GmbH (u-he) from 2014 to 2016. From 2017 to 2019, he worked as a QA Engineer and Project Manager at Mike Daliot & Max Zagler GmbH, and in 2021, he became the Product Owner for the SOUND FORGE family at MAGIX Software GmbH.


At Ableton AG, Michael played a key role in product quality and user support, significantly enhancing customer satisfaction and product reliability. At Native Instruments, he oversaw the QA process for flagship products like Maschine 2. His work at u-he involved managing QA for 16 complex plug-ins and contributing to major product releases. At Mike Daliot & Max Zagler GmbH, he led the QA efforts for Massive X, a successful Native Instruments product. As Product Owner at MAGIX Software GmbH, he led a team to define and execute the roadmap for SOUND FORGE 16, which launched successfully in early 2022. Michael was born in 1974 in Trier and has been residing in Berlin since 2001.

Michael Dühr 

QA Engineer / Manager, Product Owner, Customer Support


From 2007 to 2012, Michael worked at Ableton AG as a Product Specialist, 2nd-Level Technical Supporter, and QA Tester. In his role as a 2nd-Level Technical Supporter, he provided in-depth technical assistance to users worldwide, resolving complex issues and contributing to the development of a knowledgebase system that significantly improved response times and customer satisfaction. As a QA Tester, he played a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of Ableton Live and PUSH hardware, leading initiatives that significantly reduced critical defects and enhanced product stability.

From 2012 to 2014, Michael served as a QA Engineer at
Native Instruments GmbH
, where he meticulously tested and ensured the successful release of Maschine 2, its hardware controllers, and the iMaschine app. His efforts in identifying and resolving over 1,200 bugs were critical to the stability and success of these products, which culminated in the successful release of Maschine 2 and its hardware controllers in early 2014.

From 2014 to 2016, Michael served as QA Engineer/Manager at Heckmann Audio GmbH (u-he), where he managed QA for 16 complex plug-ins, including Diva, Zebra, and Hive. He played a key role in the successful release of three major products: Bazille, Presswerk, and Hive. His responsibilities extended beyond QA; he provided continuous input to improve product design and usability, conducted internal alpha and public beta tests, maintained test systems, provided 2nd-level technical customer support, and composed music for promotional videos showcased at international music fairs.

Between 2017 and 2019, he worked as a QA Engineer and Project Manager at Mike Daliot & Max Zagler GmbH, collaborating closely with software engineers Max Zagler, Niklas Klügel, and Tobias Ludwig, as well as with Product Designer Mike Daliot, on the development and release of Massive X for Native Instruments GmbH. His responsibilities included creating and executing test plans, managing cross-functional team communication, and ensuring the product met the highest quality standards. Massive X was successfully launched in June 2019.

In 2021, Michael took on the role of Product Owner for the SOUND FORGE family at MAGIX Software GmbH. In this capacity, he led a team of seven professionals, including developers, QA engineers, and support staff. His responsibilities included defining the feature set and roadmap for SOUND FORGE 16 Audio Studio, Pro and Suite, and Pro and Suite 365, prioritizing development tasks, and ensuring seamless communication between stakeholders. He played a crucial role in enhancing the user experience, restoring and refining core features, and addressing customer feedback. SOUND FORGE 16 launched successfully in early 2022, with Michael’s leadership being pivotal to its market success.
